Spring's almost here!

And NOW it snows? Shannon can't believe it!I didn't believe the weather men either, so I wasn't in the stampede to the grocery store for bread and milk. Half of church was cancelled (because of our 2 inches of snow), but not before my children could be seen sporting their "themed" outfits...Shannon in her snowman dress and Adam in his snowflake sweater.

Fat Tuesday
We don't participate in Marti Gras, but when I heard that Fat Tuesday was ALSO National Pancake Day, we decided to get a little festive (and I didn't feel like cooking dinner). Shannon stepped in and was a big help, but insisted on many many many chocolate chips in the batter.Regression
Which reminds me...I should have seen the signs last week when Shannon put on the baby pjs, but it became more and more apparent this week that Shannon's now acting out and acting like a baby. Luckily no toilet accidents, yet. While on the subject of babies...not much to report here (still not rolling, still not sitting up for long periods of time, etc), but LOADS of cuteness.

My little man is growing up! He grabs everything, eats everything, and wants all of mom's attention.

That'll leave a mark

We had our first "should we go to the ER for stitches?" moment this week. Just a case of jumping on the bed at a friends' house. These pics were sent to my dad who declared that we didn't need to go to the ER, thank goodness. Of course Shannon's milking it for all it's worth...literally. A bump on the head equals chocolate milk, movies, additional bedtime stories, and treats. Somehow I think she'll pull through, but not before she's told her tragic story to anyone who's willing to lend an ear.Adam's 1st Haircut
Yep, I did it. I finally saw Twilight this week and although the movie helped whom ever played Edward appear a little cuter in my eyes, I couldn't get past the preview I saw for his next movie where he plays a gay painter. Since Adam's hair had reminded me of him, I decided it was time to go.
BEFOREAFTERIt didn't turn out quite like I'd envisioned it. Adam held pretty still but was obsessed with his plastic apron. Better luck next time.
The remains
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde
There are 2 sides to Adam...
Serene, peaceful, easy goingThen the one that comes out at bedtime...
The one who covers himself head to toe in blankets, wrestles with his teddy bear, and refuses to sleep! Too cute to not include

All About ME

An old pal from high school found me through blog stalking (we all do it) and gave me this assignment. I really had to look inward and that's why it took me ages. Plus I've been woken up last several times a night for the past few weeks by Shannon to do various activities like change Adam's poopy diaper because it was too stinky for her and she feared he would get a red bum. Here goes Jennifer...

1. I LOVE clean carpet. Creating lines with the vacuum, using the hose attachment to get the edges, steam cleaning = a feeling of accomplishment and cleanliness.

2. I get into one color scheme and can't branch out. For example, when I was engaged and registering I was in my blue and yellow phase. Hence I have blue and yellow dishes, bed spread, etc. About 5 years ago was my red phase = red blender, kitchen aid mixer, etc. Now I'm in my neutral phase which I justify by saying I can add or take away various colors as I advance through my next phase.

3. My snacking time is 12-3pm. I don't know what it is but I crumble after lunch and I munch and munch and munch. It usually occurs if I don't get a nap and my theory is that I'm eating to keep me awake. However, I'm working very hard to get Shannon and Adam napping at the same time so I can get a nap as well.

4. I really HATE exercising. If you could lose weight by eating Ben and Jerry's, I would be the skinniest person alive. I do enjoy walks, but I think it's because it gets me out of the house.

5. I'm the type of person that only needs a few close friends. If I have my buddies who know and understand me, then life is good.

6. I'm the worlds lightest sleeper. My husband named it "the princess and the pea syndrome." I can wake up at the drop of a feather. My husband consistently gives me presents that show how well he knows me and one of the most intuitive gifts was a noise/sound machine. I turn that baby onto white noise and the world fades away. However, I recently ruptured my ear drum leaving me temporarily deaf in my right ear and it's the best sleep I've had since I got my sound machine. On the other hand I keep having to say, "What? Say it into my good ear."

7. I color coordinate my sons pacifiers with his outfits. They need to make more green and yellow nuks.

8. I knew more in high school. In high school I had it all figured out. Now I realize I know nothing, that my parents really were doing the best they could, and that I'm turning into my mother.

9. I don't want pets. Sorry, I have kids and they remind me of every animal in the kingdom (monkeys, pigs, tigers, etc). I could barely survive potty training Shannon.

10. I love my life. Although it's not what I thought it would be by this point, in the most important ways it's exactly what I've always wanted. I'm truly blessed.

Tagged

My cousin in law tagged me and I realized how boring of a person I am.

7 things I can do: be on time, EAT, watch Food Network exclusively, multi task (almost to fault - I think I get it from my nursing training but sometimes I have a hard time just enjoying the moment), have babies (I've been told by many doctors that I was made for birthin' babies and my last delivery was less than 5 hours - TMI), spend other peoples money (if you ask me what you should get, I know exactly what you need, but if I'm in Yankee Candle trying to decide on a scent, it takes me forever to make a decision), get dressed faster than my husband.

7 things I can't do: SING! spell, ski, live in a dark house, eat rye bread and sushi (the raw stuff), go a day without eating chocolate, not care what my house looks like when people come over.

7 things that attract me Steve: He makes me laugh, he's so forgiving, he's very patient with me, he loves our kids, he helps me see different perspectives, people spill their guts to him even if they don't know him, and he sometimes makes the bed by himself.

7 things I say often: "Shannon, what do YOU think the answer to that question is?" "You know?", "Steve, when are you coming home?" "Thank you Adam...I did need more spit up on this outfit." "Adam, what do you have against sleeping?" , "I love my little monkey's.", " Just 15 more months of school."

7 celebrity admiration's: Josh Grobin (it goes back to that "I can't sing" thing), Giata DeLaurentis, Rachael Ray, Kelly Ripa, sorry that's all I can think of. I don't really admire many celebs but that doesn't stop me from reading about them!

7 of my favorite foods: Cafe Rio (even though I haven't eaten there in years) which means Mexican food, chocolate (ANYTHING, especially nutella), peanut butter (usually with chocolate), ice cream (sticky toffee pudding), fresh pineapple, and biscuits.

Back In The Game

A special thanks to my steadfast followers for seeing me through this drought. Combine the never ending cold, which ruptured my ear drum rendering me partially deaf and requiring a Z-pack to get rid of, and a calendar that is quickly filling up, I have set aside blogging in exchange for sleep and Breaking Dawn.

While You Were Sleeping (or attempting to)
I was trying to catch a few Zzz's when Shannon came into my room wearing this..
6-12 month PJ's that I'd purchased as a baby gift for a friend. Hope she doesn't mind that they've been opened.
The "booty shot" because we all know that it's how the clothes make your tush looks that's most important.

PJ's and Pancake Day
Continuing with the PJ theme, Shannon's preschool hosted a day when the kids could wear the jammies to school. Shannon initially was wearing a different pair, but Adam managed to smear rice cereal on everyone that morning and we had just enough time to change and get a quick pic.
Ah, don't you just love her valentines outfit? Gotta love preschool...where else can you eat cookies, little debbies, etc, at 10am?

A Steamy Valentines
Got your attention? Now get your minds out of the gutter and check out how Steve blew our V-Day budget out of the water?Usually I'm a stickler for budgets, but this one is NOT going back...I'm still regretting returning my food processor 2 years ago. Steve received a few weird looks at work when his coworkers found out what he was getting me for Valentines Day. My husband knows me so well.
Valentines Day for us also consisted of me watching the kids so Steve could play basketball, followed by Steve watching the kids so I could clean the house top to bottom. Then our sweet neighbors watched the kids while Steve and I went to the art museum (we actually got to read about the paintings!). On the way home our plans for a quiet night with a movie were crushed when Steve got a call to fill in for a sick speaker at church the next day. Oh well, still a great V-Day.
Onto Adam...
My little stud. My sister Melanie gave me this shirt. After seeing how BIG he was, I'm sure she feared he would never wear it. But thanks to her keen fashions sense, Adam is stylin'. It doesn't hurt that it's 60 degrees in February either. Gotta love the south.

Think there's a resemblance?
This boy's getting a haircut THIS WEEK!

He's My Brown Eyed Boy

It's a well known fact that I've always coveted blue eyes. I annually asked for blue contacts for Christmas, but never received them. After Melanie purchased some a few year ago and I was unable to look her in the eye because she looked like someone out of Twilight, I was grateful I had never wasted money wasted on them.
My youngest sister, Lindsey, has blue eyes so I know there's a recessive gene somewhere in there. I vowed to marry a blue eyed boy to increase my children's chances of possessing this heavenly trait and thus allowing me to live vicariously through them. According to those pea charts we made in biology in the 9th grade, 2 out of 4 of my children should have blue eyes if I in fact have a recessive gene. Shannon had blue eyes...until she was two. Got my hopes up, then crushed them. When Adam was born, my expectations were high. Someone must have heard my rantings about being strung along with Shannon resulting in Adams eye's having turned very brown recently. I openly blame Steve for not stepping up and taking charge, but secretly I know it's my domineering nature that has resulted in 2 brown eye kids. Better luck next time (this is not an announcement by any means.)

Happy Birthday Noelle

Happy Birthday to the first person I considered my best friend. You're a Renaissance women. Master of all things yet simple and humble at heart. I'm grateful to still call you friend.
