Just as we were going to bed last night we looked out our window to see giant snow flakes falling! I was momentarily taken back to our Wyview apartment in Provo, UT, where one of my favorite things was to watch the snow fall through the street lights. Of course it only lasted a short time, but it was enough to provide at a few hours worth of fun the next morning. I know, most of you live where you can't wait to get some color back into your landscape and stop shoveling your driveways, but when it's 75 on Thanksgiving, a half an inch of snow is wonderful!
Most of Shannon pictures looked like this...mouth open, squealing in delight!
For your reading pleasure....a few of my fondest snow memories
1. As I was trying to sleep at midnight in Helamen Halls my freshman year of BYU, I was jolted by the sound of screams in the quad. I looked out the window to see a sea of freshman playing in the first snow of the year. Of course I had to join in, even though the only shoes I could find were my Tevas.
2. While driving home from Park City one winter, the junk from the road (you know, salt, sand, clay, etc) had built up on our windshield and we could no longer see the road. So we pulled out some Windex from the trunk, only to discover a Windex slushy. We poured in on anyways, only to have it freeze to the windshield. We made it home on a prayer.
3. After living in Memphis for a year, and being snow deprived, Steve and I headed to Utah in March for my sisters wedding. Luckily it snowed the night we arrived. Of course I had to get out at 7 am (time change meant my body thought it was 9 am) the next morning and make snowmen, snowballs, snow angels, etc. I got a few strange looks, probably from people who been living with snow for the past 6 months and couldn't understand my enthusiasm.
4. The sound of snow melting in the afternoon sun...it sound like rain.
